At the end of Sonic the Hedgehog, Robtnik is left on Mushroom Planet. These series of shots were live action sets over green screen. The foreground layer of mushrooms were part of the set, and the rest of the environment in the background was all part of the CG mushroom world that was composited in. I composited these scenes by removing the green screen and adding the CG backgrounds. Focus and color was adjusted to match the live action. The edges of the foreground live action was seamlessly integrated to merge with the new background. I also added the lighting effect to the blue quill when Robotnik holds it up, inside the glass capsule. And removed the straps that were holding the mask to his face.

I composited the CG Sonic Quill and created the power/lighting effect, and color, and matched the focus. To make it sit correctly, I roto-ed Jim Carrey's hand back on top, and fine tuned the edges.

This is the introduction shot of Robotnik. This live action shot had regular stairs for Jim Carrey to walk on. I removed the original stairs, and rebuilt the grass and truck behind it. Once cleaned up, I added the CG stairs. The interior of the truck also required cleanup of the floors and walls as Jim Carrey came into frame. I also cleaned up tracking markers from the front, exterior or the truck.

This live action bus scene, was shot with green screen as the background, outside the windows. I worked on a number of shots in this sequence, removing the green screen, adding the outside environment, matching focus and color, and restoring reflections and edges. Keeping the window drops and reflections was key.

This is a green screen comp. Outside the windows was green screen. I composited the city background outside the windows, matched lighting, focus, and restored the window reflections.

This scene was shot on a studio set. The actress was live action, in front of a blue screen background. She was on a rock in a pool of water. The island, distant ocean water, sky and horizon line were all composited in behind the live action.
